Trip to Italy to sketch and paint with artist, Claudia Hartley

by Blog Administrator on 10/08/17

Please spread the word to any of your art interested friends! I am in the process of planning a trip to Italy to teach sketching and painting. It is not set yet, so I am just sending you this note to see if you might be interested. A Phoenix friend is making the plans, Marna McKlendon. Her husband Keith might help organize time for spouses.  I am thinking of September, 2018 ( or possibly May-  Please tell me your preference). We would use sketch books, gessoed watercolor paper, acrylics and watercolor, sketch pencil and marker, foam core for “lap-desk”. I want to keep the supplies as light as possible that will fit easily into a suitcase for ease of traveling.

Sept.  (or possibly May) 2018

7-10 day trip to Italy
staying at Villa Schiatti just outside Cortona (Under the Tuscan Sun).
Trip will include classroom instruction and trips to several towns for sketching and tours to include Cortona, Siena, and San Gimignano. Cost is being determined now but expected to be approx $3500 excluding airfare. Arrangements will be made for spouses.
Thanks, and I look forward to your feedback.

Jan Sitts Workshop in May

by Blog Administrator on 04/01/17

Jan Sitts will once again be teaching her Texture, Color, Feeling workshop at the Sedona Arts Center on May 8-10, 2017.

Not only is the workshop itself outstanding, one night after a day of painting Jan invites the entire class over to my her studio for dinner. It's simply stunning to go out on the deck and view the night sky with the red rocks in silhouette. Plus, one of the days during the workshop, she will have a new special technique to work on that my students from previous workshops have requested.

Visit for more information about Jan's workshop.
